Planning your proposal is something that you will do once in your lifetime. There is a lot that can go into the planning and when you add a photographer into the mix it adds another level to think about. But hiring the right photographer for your proposal photo shoot will help you get a plan in place and take away some of the stress.

Benefits Of A Proposal Photographer

Your Photographer Will Know The Area

When you have a local photographer, they will know the areas. They will know when certain areas are busy and when they are not, you get insight into what places are great to visit, and they know all the local secrets. This is especially great when you are visiting on vacation to a new area.

Your Photographer Can Get There Ahead Of Time

Having a photographer get to the location ahead of time is a great safety net to have in place. Sometimes the spot that is planned out doesn’t always work the way you had hoped. Having someone there ahead of time can warn you if the place is closed, any unknown construction, if there are too many people, or any other unforeseen situation. If so you will know ahead of time and can move to a backup location.

Your Photographer Will Capture The Moment Forever

The number one benefit of having a photographer do a proposal photo shoot is they will capture the exact moment you ask the big question. There will be tons of emotion and joy that will be captured forever, that you can look back on as well as share with friends and family.

There Are Many Uses For Proposal Photos

An additional benefit to having a proposal photographer is the many uses these photos will have. Of course they can be used on social media but they can also be used for things like save the dates, prints around your home, photos on your wedding website, and more.

How To Plan Your Proposal

Find The Right Spot

The first step in planning a proposal photo shoot is choosing the spot. Choosing the exact location is key to ensure there is no confusion between you and the photographer. Pictures, maps, and street view are all great tools to communicate where you are going to be.

Picking The Right Time

Once the location is chosen you need to choose the time. The time places a big factor in two things, the amount of traffic and the lighting. Finding a time with less people will make for the moment to be more relaxed, comfortable, and intimate. Your photographer will have recommendations about lighting. Whether a sunrise or sunset will work for that location, or if the sun will be good in the middle of the day.

Communicating With Your Photographer

Communicating with your photographer is very important. Making sure to update them about timelines, what direction you are going to come from, and how you are going to propose. You also need to let the photographer know what you and your partner look like. Sending a picture of the two of you as well as a description of the clothes you are wearing is the best way.
